Red, one of my own beloved babies, died peacefully in his sleep today at the age of 15 yrs. Red was one of my oldest, his brother Patches is still with me. He was a beautiful orange roan male, a little on the tall side but as loveable as can be. He was loving, playful, smart and very birdy guy, just wanted to please. I remember the time when we were out in the yard playing and he took off, decided to go for a run in the pasture next door, I of course panic whenever any of my kids get further than 10 ft from me. I jumped in my car to head him off before he could get to the road. When I caught up with him, I put him on a lead and head back for my car. When I got there, I told him to get into the back seat (cloth seats), he jumps up and thats when I noticed he had rolled in cow manure and it is all over him. I told him "Don't even think of sitting down and don't touch any of the sides of the seat" and do you know he stood up the short ride back to the house, where he proceded to get a well deserved, but unwanted bath. Even though I knew this time was fast approaching, it doesn't make it any easier when it happens. He was loved and will be truely missed by his family and siblings. He will always be with us in our hearts.
