Say hello to Bella
8 year old Bella was found wandering the streets of Pennsylvania by a kind stranger (who has since become her amazing foster mom!) and who then contacted NBRAN for help. Initially, Bella was thought to be a stray, but over time, we learned that she and her brother were literally thrown out into the street after their owner died. Sadly, her brother has not been found.
Bella had a lot going on medically. Not only was she underweight with bad teeth, but she was also Lyme positive, had a UTI and she had a mastitis type infection and several lumps that were suspected to be mammary tumors. Did you know that by just spaying your dog these kind of tumors can be prevented? One of the masses that was most concerning and was pressing on her genital area as was most urgent to remove. Bella also had a large lump on her right front leg.
Bella's mastitis had to be treated with antibiotics before the tumors could be removed as it posed a serious risk for infection. The actual surgery to remove the tumors from her chest, abdomen and leg was just performed on May 10th 2023, and the vet believes he got good margins, which is good news. However, one of the mammary masses was confirmed to be cancerous but it appears that it was isolated and has not spread to her lymph nodes and mammary chain.
Bella's medical bills to date exceed $5000 but we know she is worth it. She's gone from living on the street to sleeping in a warm bed with a roof over her head. As all dogs should, Bella will remain in her current foster home who will take wonderful care of her until her time to cross the bridge comes. NBRAN of course will provide additional hospice support for both Bella & her foster too.
Bella's surgery was expensive and we could use your help with her ongoing care. Your generous donation helps us help dogs like Bella. (And we have so many right now!). Donate here! Thank YOU for your continued support.
