Dear Friends: No, I'm not that tasty French wine but I am Merlot, an 8-year-old Brittany with white fur sprinkled by brown spots and an actual tail. I am one of 18 Brittanys from Louisiana rescued by NBRAN and have had a rough road medically. I was heartworm positive, had intestinal worms, a UTI, and bad teeth. The dentist, who evaluated my teeth, rushed me to the emergency cardiologist because I had a heart murmur and fluid. I am now on Prednisone to reduce the fluid. Unfortunately, I will need to have all my teeth pulled when I am well enough to undergo anesthesia.
I then stopped eating and started to decline, so I was rushed again to the ER. It was discovered that I had gastroenteritis. Thankfully medication and a bland diet corrected that. Despite my multiple health challenges and the abuse and neglect I suffered for years, I have a lighthearted spirit and love to smile. Initially, my surroundings confused me, but I learned quickly of the comfort of a doggy bed and the need to potty outside. The important thing you need to know about me is I love people and they love me back. Kiss me, and I will give you a wet kiss in return. My dog pals, Charlie and Milo snuggle with me when I'm sleepy. So, forget the French wine, but don't forget to thank and donate to NBRAN for all they are doing for me. And please think positive thoughts as I continue on my recovery.
NBRAN supporters and volunteers are the backbone to our ability to help dogs like Merlot. Thanks to you and them, we are able to physically and emotionally care for abused and neglected dogs. However, continually increasing costs have greatly impacted our financial ability to afford healthcare needs. Our partnering veterinarians and clinics do what they can to keep services affordable, but increasing costs are rapidly depleting our financial reserves.
NBRAN’s operational costs to care for our beloved dogs are now averaging $30 to $35K PER month. This is almost a $10K PER MONTH increase over last year. No relief is in sight. And we are also seeing more dogs coming into our care this year.
Your help is crucial to NBRANs ability to plan for dog care needs and veterinary emergencies such as Merlot's. The 2024 Annual Campaign is underway! This is your chance to help NBRAN fulfill our mission to rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home Brittanys in need. As volunteers united in a common cause, NBRAN is committed to the care of these dogs and providing for their physical and emotional needs.
We are grateful and appreciate any donations. Every dollar helps a dog in need. Show your support by making your donation to our 2024 Capital Campaign! As an expression of our gratitude, the first 100 people who donate $250 or more will receive a 2025 NBRAN Calendar as a thank you gift.
Thank you for Caring and Please consider Donating TODAY!
